Welcome to Wasp Asset

Wasp Asset is a cloud-based fixed-asset tracking system from Wasp Barcode Technologies. It helps your organization know exactly what it owns, where each item is, who has it, what condition it’s in, and what it’s worth — all from your web browser, with no software to install.

Wasp Asset keeps a complete, always-current record of the physical things your organization owns and relies on — laptops, tools, vehicles, machinery, furniture, medical or lab equipment, and more. Instead of chasing spreadsheets and sticky notes, your whole team works from one shared, up-to-date picture of your assets.

With Wasp Asset you can:

  • Track fixed and multi-quantity assets across every site and location you operate.
  • Check assets out to employees, customers, or vendors, then check them back in when they’re returned.
  • Move assets between sites and locations, and request moves with move orders.
  • Maintain your assets with quick maintenance logging, scheduled work orders, and tasks.
  • Depreciate assets over time and track funding and contracts for finance and lease reporting.
  • Purchase and receive new assets from your vendors.
  • Audit your assets with physical counts, then reconcile anything that doesn’t match.
  • Run reports and print labels and receipts to share information and keep your records accurate.

Wasp Asset is built for the people responsible for an organization’s equipment and property:

  • Asset and equipment managers who need to know where everything is.
  • IT managers tracking computers, phones, and other technology.
  • Finance and accounting teams who care about depreciation, funding, and asset value.
  • Field technicians and everyday staff who check items in and out and perform maintenance.
  • Administrators who configure the system, manage users, and set company-wide options.

This help site follows the same structure as the app itself, so you can usually find a topic where you’d expect it in the menus:

  • Getting Started — sign in, learn your way around the screen, and understand the key ideas behind Wasp Asset. Start here if you’re new.
  • Asset — create and manage your fixed and multi-quantity assets, asset types, and groups.
  • Actions — everyday activities like check out, check in, move, dispose, recover, convert, calculate depreciation, and mass update.
  • Maintenance — quick maintenance, work orders, and tasks.
  • Purchase — purchase orders and receiving.
  • Move Order — request and fulfill asset moves.
  • Lookups — the supporting records assets rely on, such as sites, locations, employees, vendors, and depreciation methods.
  • Audit — plan, perform, and reconcile physical counts.
  • Reports — reports, scheduled reports, labels, and receipts.
  • Users — user accounts and roles.
  • Mobility — settings for the Wasp Asset mobile apps and scanners.

Setting up a brand-new account? This order tends to work well:

  1. Make Wasp Asset work the way you do. Start with Form Customization and Settings — both under the Settings gear in the top bar — to tailor which fields and forms appear and to set company-wide options, so the platform operates the way your organization does. See Settings & options for the account-wide preferences.
  2. Bring your data in. Once things are configured the way you want, use Import Data to load your assets and supporting lookup records in bulk, rather than entering them one at a time.

With the platform configured and your data loaded, you’re ready to start tracking — check assets out, run audits, and report on what you own.

Which edition do I have? Your edition (Basic or Complete) is set for your whole company. If you’re not sure, ask your administrator — it determines which features appear in your account.

I can’t find a feature described in this help. The most common reasons are that your role doesn’t include access to it, or it belongs to a higher edition. Your administrator can grant access or confirm what your edition covers.

Is there a mobile app? Yes. Wasp Asset works with companion mobile apps and scanners for counting, checking items in and out, and more in the field. See the Mobility section.
