Asset actions overview
The Actions menu is where you record the everyday things that happen to your assets — who has them, where they are, when they’re retired, and how their value changes over time. This page introduces each action and points you to a full how-to for it.
What’s in the Actions menu
Section titled “What’s in the Actions menu”Everything below lives under Actions in the left sidebar. Most actions let you scan or pick one or more assets, fill in a few details, and save — Wasp Asset then keeps a permanent record you can review later on the History page.
| Action | What it does | When to use it |
|---|---|---|
| Check Out | Assigns an asset to an employee, customer, or vendor | Someone is taking an asset to use |
| Check In | Returns a checked-out asset | An asset comes back |
| Move | Relocates an asset to another site, location, or group | An asset changes where it lives |
| Dispose | Retires an asset with a Dispose Reason | An asset is scrapped, sold, or otherwise removed from service |
| Recover | Brings a disposed asset back with a Recovery Reason | An asset was disposed by mistake or returns to service |
| Convert Asset | Converts units of a multi-quantity asset into individually-tagged fixed assets | You want to track items individually with their own tags instead of by quantity — for example, tagging bulk-bought laptops as they go into service |
| Calculate Depreciation | Updates book values for your depreciating assets | You need current values for finance or reporting |
| Mass Update | Changes one or more fields across many assets at once | You need to edit lots of assets the same way |
| History | Shows every asset transaction, with filtering | You want to see what happened and when |
| Change Log | Field-level audit trail of edits | You need to see exactly what changed on a record |
| Archived Transactions | Older transactions moved out of the main history | You’re looking for a transaction that’s no longer in History |
